Nearly 25,000 Lost Electricity in Queensland and Victoria Following Intense Storms
Around 25,000 homes in south-east Queensland were left lacking electricity on Monday morning after powerful weather events passed over the region, generating powerful gusts hitting 109 kilometers per hour.
Massive Frozen Precipitation and Broad Destruction
Residents witnessed substantial frozen pellets as large as seven centimeters in particular locations. Meteorological experts confirmed that different parts across the state had been impacted by substantial ice precipitation.

State Emergency Services received nearly 600 calls for help across the area, mostly for structural issues but also for downed trees and inundation.

During the peak on the previous day, in excess of 28k electricity consumers in the state were experiencing outages.
Weather Forecast
Damp conditions were forecast to persist along much of eastern Queensland this coming days as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the coastal areas.
The following day was predicted as the wettest day, with continued severe weather risk anticipated across various areas of both areas.
Health Warning
Medical authorities cautioned that there was an increased chance of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the northern rural areas, specifically given the existing atmospheric conditions.
This warning comes after past events where analogous circumstances led to major medical consequences in the area.
